Saturday, November 17

Today was filled with many activities and experiences. We started the day with a great breakfast. We left the hotel with our group at about 8:30am. We headed North from the City towards the mountains, stopping at a Jade Factory. We learned how they made their wares and the value placed on Jade in the Chinese culture. After that, we headed to the Great Wall. TOTALLY AMAZING. Of course, Ken and Alex had to hike to the top. Bryant and I opted out, but enjoyed watching people and even meeting a few, right Bryant?

After that was lunch at the Cloissone Factory. More amazing art and wonderful food! We also participated in a Tea Ceremony which was neat. This evening, we went and saw the Acrobats which was painful (ouch - how do they bend that way?) but certainly memorable.

Tomorrow, we all head out to our separate provinces. Some will leave the hotel by 6am. Our flight is at 1:30pm, so we'll be leaving here at 11am. Charlotte will help us get checked in. We are limited to 44 pounds per ticketed person checked, but there is no limit on weight of carry on baggage. This means we'll spend some time tomorrow morning "re-packing" to avoid the weight penalties. Our flight is only about 90 minutes long. We will be going North - where its colder!

On Monday, we'll meet ElleAnna for the first time. She will remain with us from that point on - as her new family.

Above are photos from today's activities. They were in order until I started posting them and then, they sort of went in their own order... Sorry! The top photo is of lunch (only Ken tried the fish), then two of the tea ceremony, two of the acrobat show, one of the Jade Factory, one of the mountains, and two of The Great Wall. ENJOY!
