In Beijing

We had Sean Connery help us at the airport in Denver because the computerized systems would not recognize our passports.  We made it to San Francisco fine.  We left there at about 11am on Wednesday and then, arrived here at about 3pm yesterday (Thursday).  People were certainly sick of riding on the plane, tired due to a lack of sleep, and a bit testy with each other - but nobody had puked.  Lady Di was one of our flight attendants.  We were surprised that we didn't fly straight to Beijing, but rather followed the coast of the US, Canada, Alaska, Russia, Siberia, etc.

The sun was already going down (they don't do daylight savings time) when we landed here.  Charlotte from our agency met us at the airport and took us to the hotel.  She took Ken and Alex to a grocery store to buy some bottled water.  We took showers and went to bed, but we did wake up and look at the stars outside our window.  Pretty amazing to know that we are in China!

Alex has given us heart failure a couple of times when he "cannot find things".  We did locate the camera, his watch, and a couple of other things, but he still doesn't know where his iPod is.  Gotta love a child who can stand in the middle of the room, turn in a circle one time, and say "I cannot find it".  Maybe she will be good at helping him keep things together :-).  Lord knows he needs help!

Today is the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and TianAnMen Square.  Tomorrow is the Great Wall and two factories (jade and the enamel paint).   So far, so good!
