Thank you to a great photographer, Teena Dierking, for taking these pix. She did a terrific job capturing our twisted family on film - especially at one of our favorite times of the year.

Great-Grandma Turns 102 - Late Post, Early June

"How long do we have to stay? I have other things to do today you know..."
.
Dad with one of his uncles. Hard telling what they are laughing about...
.
Ken and Elle doing a workbook to pass the time.
.
Some of the great-great grandchildren sharing John Deere toys.
.
Great-Grandma getting her hearing device ready for the big day.
.
Alex, first in line for cake - wouldn't you know?
.
The celebration is getting underway.
.
Just chilling with a John Deere combine.
.
Some of the great-great grandchildren enjoying their ice cream. Notice my two kids have a technology addiction.
.
Ken and one of my cousin's little girls. They are learning about Brown Bear.
.
Great-Grandma and eight of her children. She has outlived two of them... My Granny is the oldest. One of the other daughters is actually younger than my dad, which sort of complicates things... :-)
.
Great-Grandma and a sparse sampling of grandchildren. My Dad is the oldest...
.
Great-Grandma and barely a splattering of the great-grandchildren as well as some great-great grandchildren. Elle and Bryant are missing from this photo as they had run downtown. I am the oldest great-grandchild and Bryant is the oldest great-great grandchild.

GrandKids Photos

One can seldom get a photo with EVERYONE smiling, happy, and cooperative. On this date, it was mostly Elle having problems. These are the only ones that are probably worth sharing.... But that's ok... Its just the way it works.

Elle's Friend...

"Goodness sakes, Woman! How many toys does one little girl need? I have a catnip mouse and some stinky socks from the boys. How do you rate getting all this stuff plus more?"

.
I am not sure about having a cat in the house again. Its been enough years since we lost Nikita that I had gotten out of the habit of picking up glasses when you left the room. I certainly didn't miss the litter box either. Elle has a friend though, and most of the time, he has been ok. He is out of control most of the time though - racing around with his tiny tail poofed up to twice its size, chewing on everything in sight, hiding in the laundry baskets.... He is truly insane.

Another Powerful Thought

When you come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.

Thought for the Day -

Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work.
