These photos were released to the press just this week. They are both disturbing and amazing to me. One thing that I contemplated often as we walked the narrow streets between Battery Park and the WTC was what it must have been like on that day - the terror, the darkness, the air filled with dirt and smoke, the total confusion and hysteria. I could hear the echos of regular flights going over the city during our visit. They were frequent and loud, but I could only imagine the horrible sounds of explosions when the impact happened - beyond anything anyone had ever heard before. These photos make it even more evident to me....
